BAPTISM!

Hello Everyone!!

First things first, we got to baptise Frere Hermann!! It was so amazing, full of the spirit, and I absolutely loved it! We invited him to share his testimony and he talked about how much he loves the church and how touched he was by the children bearing their testimonies at an activity. It was so amazing to hear and helped to strengthen my testimony too!!

We've been working diligently to help others. We've been finding people and the work is progressing and it brings such joy!!!! I love it so much! Do missionary work wherever you are!

We starting teaching Soeur Elisabeth who is so awesome! We asked her the question of if you were Joseph Smith and your parents were going to these different churches, what would you do? And she answered, well, I would ask God. I about cried. She came to church the next morning and we're really hopeful for her future.

I love the culture here! Today for our lunch, we made futu banane. You mash up plantains and cassava and mash it together, and voila you have futu. I also started learning a little bit of a native tongue here called Nushi, which is so so so cool. I'll be able to come home and talk very cool and no one will understand a thing.

Anyways, the work of the Lord is going forth, little by little! This week is probably my last week here with Elder Kadima, so by next Monday there could be lots of change! Exciting and scary haha! I love you all and please please remember that Christ is always there for you in all of your hard times. He really lives and this is really His church.

Notes from our video call:

We were able to talk to him for the first time in three weeks!  He started feeling better on Thursday after being on the medication for a week.  They have been getting out in their area more since then.  The President came to their apartment again on Thursday to interview them.  Things are getting better, but are still not where they should be.  They are planning and studying together.

Elder Kadima taught them how to make Congolese fufu from cassava.  And they made futu with cassava and plantains.  One of the elders in the apartment bought a mortar and pestle to grind the cassava.

They had a lot of people from their branch at the baptism and it was awesome!  Frere Hermann came to the Christmas activity for the branch and became interested in the church.

They found a lady selling "cakes" and they turned out to be beignets.  He's gained weight.  He put on his white pants for the baptism and they were tighter than they were in the MTC.

Sometimes he forgets he's in Africa.  He has to think, "Oh yeah, that's not normal."

They receive transfer calls on Saturday night.  They do laundry on Monday and travel to their new area on Wednesday.  The laundry needs Tuesday to dry.

The last time he uploaded pictures at the branch building, it took 2 hours because the connection was so slow.
